A lack of transport infrastructure is a major constraint to housing development in Cambridge where the shortage is regarded as “acute”, and unless addressed, truly affordable accommodation will be but a pipe dream for the city’s young adults.

MAPIC 2017: Owners of Manhattan mega mall American Dream seek UK brands

The owner of American Dream in New Jersey, a $5bn retail led development on the outskirts of Manhattan, is looking to secure UK retail and restaurant brands for its 3m sq ft project.
Retailers that have already agreed deals include Hermès, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Zara, H&M and Primark.
When complete in 2019, the development will have 450 shops and restaurants. More than 50% of the space will be dedicated to entertainment facilities including a Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, DreamWorks indoor waterpark, Big Snow America indoor ski slope, Observation Wheel, Merlin Entertainment’s Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland Discovery Centre, Kidzania, Cirque du Soleil theatre, Cinemex luxury experience and an NHL sized ice rink

Meyer Bergman’s £300m retail-led development on the former Vinopolis wine-tasting site, SE1, near London Bridge will be called Borough Yards.
The investment manager has instructed CWM and JLL as letting agents on the scheme, and is now actively looking for retail and leisure occupiers for the 115,600 sq ft of available space which is split over 50 units.

At the Junior property Litigation Association's recent dilapidations seminar in Birmingham, a highly experienced panel answered questions from JPLA members.
Guy Fetherstonhaugh QC (Falcon Chambers), Nick Dowding QC and Christopher Sullivan (Malcolm Hollis). David Murgatroyd (Gerald Eve), Richard Kay (Beckett & Kay) and Neil Burridge (Radius Consulting) fielded queries posed by panel chair Alison hardy (Squire Patton Boggs).
Discussion ranged from an outline of the role of building surveyors and section 18 valuers in the dilapidations process to preparing a schedule of dilapidations, when to get the lawyers involved, what lessons can be learned from other countries and what role technology including drones can play in embracing the future.

The former Daily Mail printing factory, now known as Printworks, sits within British Land's Canada Water masterplan and opened in February this year to be used as an events venue as a temporary use while the site goes through planning.
However, the popularity and success of the venue has prompted the developers to re-consider future options for the property and they are now considering keeping it as a permanent part of the development.
