Working together is the key to delivery of new homes and commercial space, says Tim Bowles the first metro mayor for the West of England.
Elected in May, alongside five other metro mayors across England, the former business development manager will preside over a £1bn budget. This will be drip fed over 30 years for transport, housing, planning and education for the Greater Bristol region, incorporating Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils.
Speaking at MIPIM UK about the combined authority he said: “We are working together both with our joint spatial plan and our joint transport strategy and studies to make sure we are identifying opportunities for new homes.
“We are making sure we are providing transport and other infrastructure to make those sites viable and deliverable.”
