Wednesday Oct 04, 2017
In this week’s episode of TechTalk Radio, we meet three more judges for EG’s inaugural TechTalk Academy, a competition for start-ups - supported by Pi Labs, CBRE and KPMG - in which firms battle it out for up to £150,000 of investment.
This week we sit down with British Land chief executive Chris Grigg and former co-head of Europe at Goldman Sachs Mike Sherwood. The pair, who worked together for almost 20 years at the investment bank before Grigg joined BL, discuss the role of tech in real estate and financing, what they will be looking for from pitches to the Academy on 15 November, and how VR made them both a little queasy.
And Kevin Brown, founding partner of REV, a venture capitalist firm supported by EG parent company RELX, joins Emily Wright and Samantha McClary in the studio to share some lessons learnt from more than 15 years investing in tech and how he’ll be looking at the teams behind the pitches at the inaugural EG TechTalk Academy.

The event, which focussed on how to be the best mentor and mentee, presented REWIRE members with sage advice, comical and sometimes self-deprecating but always inspiring stories from Lloyds' new head of commercial real estate Madeleine McDougall, MAG chief executive Lynda Shillaw, entreprenuer Emma Sinclair and GVA senior director Ros Goode.
